Intel, Oracle to Expand CPU-Based Cloud Computing in Multiyear Collaboration
By Elias Schisgall
Intel and Oracle will expand the use of Intel Xeon CPU-based computing on Oracle Cloud Infrastructure in an expanded multiyear collaboration between the two tech companies.
The companies said the collaboration will span current and future platforms for Intel's Xeon CPUs, and is intended to meet growing demand for artificial-intelligence computing services.
"The expanded collaboration between Intel and Oracle is intended to support additional capacity and planned processor capabilities as customers extend existing enterprise systems with AI, while retaining familiar software environments and operational tooling," the companies said Tuesday.
The companies said they will coordinate their technical roadmaps and processor capacity to support the expansion of Oracle's cloud business.
