Chip-Equipment Supplier ASM International Lifts Guidance Again Amid AI Spending Frenzy
By Mauro Orru
ASM International raised its sales forecasts for next year once again as companies invest heavily in chips and the tools needed to produce them to keep up with soaring demand for artificial intelligence.
The Dutch group, which supplies chip makers with wafer processing equipment for the deposition of thin films, said revenue next year should exceed 5.7 billion euros, equivalent to $6.37 billion. That compares with prior guidance of revenue exceeding the top end of a range between 3.7 billion euros and 4.6 billion euros.
"The continued build-out of AI infrastructure is driving significant capacity requirements across the industry," Chief Executive Hichem M'Saad said. "Capacity remains tight across our customer base, and customers are moving quickly to increase output."
The company posted third-quarter sales of 1.16 billion euros, up 44% on year at constant currencies and above analysts' forecast of 1.10 billion euros, according to Visible Alpha.
