EdgeStart is a self-contained, 8-GPU NVIDIA cabinet that enables building owners to earn money from their available solar power and batteries.
NEW YORK, Oct. 27, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- Lektra, Inc., a distributed energy and artificial intelligence company, today began taking orders for EdgeStart, a self-contained server cabinet that commercial and industrial building owners, solar and storage sites, and energy developers to house in underutilized facility space and power with existing solar arrays and batteries. Lektra installs the system, operates it remotely, sells its computing capacity to AI customers for inference and other GPU workloads through Lektra Cloud, and pays the owner 80 percent of the revenue.

Many buildings with solar panels make more power than they use. In some markets, utility tariffs and interconnection rules mean exported solar earns only a few cents per kilowatt-hour. Using a patented process, EdgeStart provides a better way for owners to more efficiently generate additional income. Each cabinet holds an 8-GPU NVIDIA server (the same class of hardware AI companies rent from the largest clouds), an online UPS, a metered power distribution unit, a firewall, and a switch. A live dashboard shows usage, energy, and earnings, and Lektra handles customers, billing, monitoring, and support. An owner can start with one cabinet and expand as the need arises.
"EdgeStart is the first building block in our vision to create a more resilient and impactful computing network where power is readily available, whether solar, batteries, or microgrids," said Karl Andersen, Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Lektra. "AI infrastructure doesn't have to be concentrated behind the walls of a massive data center. Businesses across the country have energy, available space, and the ability to support computing, and EdgeStart connects them into a coordinated network that pays them to power AI compute."
Large, centralized data centers can take years to develop because they require substantial construction, permitting, land acquisition, utility coordination, and access to a significant amount of reliable power. Additionally, political and community negotiations often present hurdles where projects raise concerns about electricity rates, water use, land use, and grid capacity. EdgeStart provides a flexible and opportunistic way to put computing in buildings that can easily support it, or already have it.
EdgeStart is the entry point to Lektra's EdgeScale data center product suite, along with Edge Pro and Edge Max. Edge Pro serves larger commercial deployments, and Edge Max supports multi-megawatt installations. Lektra's EdgeScale data centers, which operate at 20 MW or less, are deployed at eight sites today.
Lektra is launching two models. The EdgeStart RTX has eight NVIDIA RTX PRO 6000 Blackwell GPUs, costs $310,197, and draws about 7 kW at peak. Lektra estimates owner earnings of about $9,700 a month in the first year. The EdgeStart B300 has eight NVIDIA B300 GPUs, costs $840,951, and draws about 14.5 kW at peak, with estimated owner earnings of about $36,950 a month. Prices cover the installed hardware and shipping.
Owners can pay cash or finance through Blue Street Capital at 9 percent over 48 months with 20 percent down, subject to credit approval. Estimated monthly payments are about $6,200 for the RTX and about $16,700 for the B300.
The earnings estimates assume 730 contracted hours a month at current market rates, the 80 percent owner share, power at $0.10 per kilowatt-hour, and the cost of fiber and data storage.
"Uber created a shared economy for transportation, and Airbnb did the same for real estate. Yet energy, one of the world's most important resources, has remained largely outside that transformation," continued Andersen, Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Lektra. "EdgeStart is the first step toward a shared economy where the owners of energy infrastructure can reasonably and mindfully become active participants in the AI economy, rather than electrical grid customers."
Lektra calls the building owners who run EdgeStart energy hosts. A host starts with a site assessment on lektra.com, followed by an engineering review and an earnings model. The host then buys the system, with cash or financing, and then Lektra installs, tests, and brings it online.
EdgeStart is available to order now at lektra.com. Buyers can also request a site assessment or contact sales@lektra.com.
EdgeStart is being introduced as part of Lektra's expanding portfolio of distributed AI infrastructure solutions. Initial configurations will support select NVIDIA GPU architectures, with additional hardware options and deployment configurations planned.
